Cricket Formats and Competitions

Cricket is played in three main formats — T20, ODI and Test. Each has its own pace and character, and the types of bets available differ slightly across them.

T20: The fastest format, played over 20 overs. The game can turn on any single ball. In Bangladesh, BPL is played in this format and is the country's most talked-about domestic tournament. At the international level, the T20 World Cup is the biggest attraction.

ODI: Fifty-over one-day cricket. Both batters and bowlers have time to build longer strategies. The ICC World Cup is played in this format. A large share of Bangladesh Tigers' biggest wins have come in ODIs.

Test: Five-day cricket — the most traditional form of the game. Results shift slowly, which means there are many more opportunities for in-play betting. IPL T20 cricket and Bangladesh's international Test series are both available in the 1111x sports section.

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football, tennis and other sports. The betting experience for cricket and football is quite different: in football a draw is a common result, so there are more markets (1X2, both teams to score, handicap). In T20 or ODI cricket there is no draw — the match winner market is a straight two-way bet. In Test cricket a draw is possible, so a three-outcome market is available.

Popular Betting Markets

Cricket offers a range of markets to bet on. Below are seven familiar markets with a plain explanation of how each one works.

1

Match Winner

The simplest market — which team will win the match? In T20 or ODI cricket, pick one of the two teams. For example, if Team A has odds of 1.65 and you bet on Team B at odds of 2.30, a Team B win pays a proportional profit on every unit staked.

2

Toss Winner

This market is simply about which team wins the coin toss before the match. There are two outcomes (Team A or Team B), so odds are usually close to equal. It is a standalone market with no connection to the rest of the match.

3

Top Batsman

Bet on which batter will score the most runs. Considering the team's batting order and pitch conditions makes this market more interesting. Keep in mind this is a specialist market — factor in runs and statistics when placing a bet, but the outcome is always uncertain.

4

Total Runs Over/Under

Will the total runs scored be above or below a set number (for example, 160)? Pitch conditions, wicket state and weather all matter here. You choose either over (more than the set number) or under (fewer).

5

Multi Bet (Multiple Matches)

A single bet that combines multiple selections — you only win if every selection is correct. For example, three selections with odds of 1.40, 1.70 and 1.90 give combined odds of 1.40 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 4.52 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳452, but if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

6

Method of First Wicket

How will the first wicket fall — bowled, caught, LBW, run out, or another method? This is a specialist market with multiple possible outcomes, which means odds are higher. A correct pick can return a large profit, but the risk is also greater.

7

Handicap Betting

To level the contest between a stronger and a weaker team, one team is given a virtual run advantage or disadvantage. For example, a −15 run handicap on Team A means 15 runs are deducted from their final score when settling the bet.

How to Read Odds

Odds can be displayed in three formats — decimal, fractional and American (moneyline). All three express the same probability; only the way they are written differs.

Take Team A winning at decimal odds of 3.00. The same odds in other formats: decimal 3.00 = fractional 2/1 = American +200. A ৳500 bet that wins gives a total return of ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If the bet loses, ৳500 is gone.

Now suppose Team B is the favourite — odds of decimal 1.50 = fractional 1/2 = American −200. In American format, a minus sign shows how much you need to stake to win ৳100. Here a ৳500 bet returns ৳750 (৳250 profit).

For new bettors, decimal odds are the easiest — simply multiply your stake by the odds to get the total return.

Format Team A (৳500 stake) Team B favourite (৳500 stake) How to read it
Decimal 3.00 → return ৳1,500 1.50 → return ৳750 Stake × odds = total return
Fractional 2/1 → profit ৳1,000 1/2 → profit ৳250 Stake × (numerator/denominator) = profit
American +200 → profit ৳1,000 −200 → stake ৳200 to win ৳100 + means profit, − means required stake

Place Live Bets While the Match Is On

Live or in-play betting lets you place bets while a match is in progress. In cricket this is especially engaging because every wicket, every over and every boundary shifts the odds.

Say Team A is batting and loses two quick wickets in the first few overs — Team A's odds of winning will lengthen and Team B's will shorten. Placing a bet at that moment means taking a new position based on how the situation has changed.

Timing matters in live betting. Odds move fast, so decisions need to be made quickly. That said, betting with a clear head and within a set budget is the right approach. Betting is for entertainment — no strategy guarantees a profit.

Football and Other Sports

Football Betting

Football is also popular in Bangladesh, especially matches from the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. In football a draw is a common result, so the 1X2 market (home/draw/away) works differently from cricket's match winner market.

3-outcome market

Tennis Betting

Tennis has no draw — it is a straight two-way bet. From the Grand Slams to the ATP Tour, set winner and match winner markets are available across multiple tournaments.

Set and match markets

Other Sports

Basketball, volleyball, e-sports and several other sports are available at 1111x. Each sport has its own market structure, but the method for reading odds is the same across all of them.

Multi-sport platform

If you are looking for games beyond cricket, 1111x has live casino and table games. There is also a large slots collection featuring titles from top providers including PG Soft and Pragmatic Play.

Practical Tips for Getting Started with Betting

Betting is a form of entertainment. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience more organised and enjoyable.

Set a budget

Decide in advance how much you are willing to bet. Sticking to that limit is the sensible approach.

Focus on one market

Start with straightforward markets like match winner or over/under. Move on to more complex markets later.

Understand the format

T20 can swing quickly, while Test matches change pace slowly — choose your markets based on the format being played.

Bet responsibly

Betting is for entertainment, not for recovering losses. Read the responsible gaming policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main difference is in the tournament structure. BPL is Bangladesh's domestic T20 tournament, IPL is India's. Both offer the same types of markets — match winner, top batsman, total runs over/under, and more. IPL has more teams and a longer schedule, so there is slightly more variety in available bets.

A multi bet combines selections from multiple matches or markets into a single bet. If all selections are correct, the odds multiply to give a larger return. For example, three selections with odds of 1.40, 1.70 and 1.90 give combined odds of 1.40 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 4.52 (approximately) — meaning a ৳100 bet returns ৳452. However, if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

In Test cricket a draw is a possible result, so the match winner market has three options (Team A win, Team B win, draw). In T20 or ODI cricket a draw does not normally occur, so there are only two options. Test matches run over five days, which means there are far more opportunities to place in-play bets as odds shift throughout the game.

Live bets can be placed during most of the match, but betting may briefly pause between wickets or at the end of an over. Odds change very quickly, so check the odds shown on screen carefully before confirming a bet.

Simple formula: total return = stake × decimal odds. Example: ৳500 bet at odds of 3.00 → return ৳1,500 (profit ৳1,000). Another example: ৳500 bet at odds of 1.50 → return ৳750 (profit ৳250). To find the profit, subtract your original stake from the total return.
